Description:
A three step group exercise in understanding the reciprocal influence between our personal interactions, the materials we make with with, and the spaces we move within.
Step One: Each participant gathers glass from the furnace then drizzles, wraps, and trails their material over several stationary kiln bricks creating the foundation of the threadbare sculpture.
Step Two: One individual gathers glass and each participant uses a hot punty to pull glass from the single source, continuing to build the material.
Step Three: One person gathers glass and the single punty is passed from participant to participant until the glass cools and more glass is gathered.
The resulting artifact is a reflection of the different facets of individual effort and collaborative potential.
